Our Beginings...
In 1908 Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and School was established.
In response to the changing demographics in the neighborhood around Holy Name of Jesus Church in 2010, Pastor Stephen Dudek and Principal Rosa Fraga established the San Juan Diego Academy. This school would celebrate the immigrant's journey, it would avail our new families in the parish of an excellent faith-based education, and with our college-going culture, it would give our students a goal and a brighter future.
We knew that tuition would be a huge stumbling block for our students and we created a pathway to ensure that any immigrant family that wanted a Catholic education could afford one. We were joined in our mission by five other parishes with increasing numbers of Latino parishioners. Each parish subsidizes its students. Every family pays 5% of their gross family income for all of their children to attend SJDA. We knew that our school needed the greater community's support to succeed. We applied for grants, made requests of known supporters of Catholic education, and developed relationships with parishes that supported our mission.
Our ongoing mission is to continue building on our success, all of our students graduate high school and they attend college or trade schools. By donating to SJDA you are investing in the future of the Catholic Church and our greater society.
